How to grow peanuts

If you like peanuts I think that now it’s time for you to learn how to grow peanuts. Being a part of the legume family, not the nut family, the peanuts are native to South America. After reading this article you will know how to grow peanuts and you can eat them, sell them or make butter from them.

You will have to buy raw peanuts and I recommend to you to buy them from the grocery store and not from the seed store. At the seed store you will find roasted peanuts and like I said you will need raw peanuts.

An important thing that you will have to do is to plow the ground deeply. Now you will see that learning how to grow peanuts isn’t that hard. You must know that you will have to plow the ground at least seven inches or even more.

The next thing that you will have to do is to plant the peanuts. You will have to do that after the last frost. The soil where you will plant the peanuts has to be very sandy. An important thing that you have to do for learning how to grow peanuts is that you will have to make sure your soil drains well.

With lots of manure and compost you will have to sow two inches deep. Besides that you can add a couple inches of mulch on the top of the surface if you aren’t sure that the ground where you planted the peanuts is too hard or if you see that it has a lot of weeds.

Until now I think that it was easy to learn how to grow peanuts but now comes a part that is a bit harder.  You will have to space the peanuts seven inches apart. Another thing that you will have to do is to make sure that the kemels stay whole. If the kemels will split then the peanuts won’t grow.

Now the next thing on learning how to grow peanuts is that you will have to water the peanuts well when you are planting them and after that you don’t need to water them until the peanut plant sprouts. This means that after a week you will begin watering regularly. Now you almost know how to grow peanuts and an advice is to don’t water them too much because they will die.

The next things that you will have to do is to keep them free from weeds and after 130 days when the plants will grow up, you are going to be able to harvest in the fall.

After harvesting, you will have to wait for two to four weeks for peanuts to dry. After that all you have to do is to store them in a dry, cool place until they are ready for roasting.
